Not original, but a good action flick. At times the movie was clearly a nostalgia trip for Tom Cruise and his original Top Gun audience. The plot is predictable and the cameos are forced. However, the action scenes stand up even in the age of science fiction and superhero movies. Ignoring the holes and smaller issues, the movie felt like a solid late 90's blockbuster; a refreshing departure from many current films.
